Narrative:
I was flying my kit fox model 4 speedster northbound toward my home. I was 9 miles south of an enroute airport when the subaru engine lost its oil and the engine seized and failed. The cause of oil loss was an add-on cooler aluminum loop of pipe rubbed against the fiberglass cowl and rubbed right through the aluminum and ruptured the pipe. I landed easily in a large summer fallowed wheat field and called the local airport. I folded the wings on my kit fox. The FBO sent out a plane to get (find) my location. They came in a pick up with a flatbed trailer; loaded the plane and we returned to the airport. The oil cooler pipe contacting the cowl needed protection from abrasion to prevent this occurrence.
