Narrative:

The first officer was flying the approach to runway 33R and gave a very through approach briefing. He briefed that we would try and exit the runway at E-5 and taxi to our gate which was not known to us at that time. After 60 KTS I assumed control of the aircraft and taxied the aircraft off runway 33R onto taxiway E-5. We hesitated slightly to switch to ground control because we had to tune in the frequency and clear runway 33R. We both had our taxiway charts out and had briefed all the NOTAMS at okbk. We had briefed NOTAM #20/560 which talked about work in progress in the area between e-1 and runway 33R/15L and to use caution. I had turned off onto taxiway E-5 and was heading for taxiway E-8. Ground told us our gate was #2 and use E-9 in a very broken arabic voice. I made a short left turn onto the bright green taxiway center line lights which turned out to be E-8. Stopping the aircraft to check our position i determined that we were on taxiway E-8 rather than E-9. (Why were the bright taxiway center line light for E-8 not turned off or blocked with a barricade device like all other ICAO airports?) the ground controller now informed us that taxiway E-8 was closed. It was not marked at our position on taxiway E-8 or mentioned on the NOTAMS at okbk. Ground asked if we could turn back from our position. We were not comfortable making a turn back because of the poor lighting and markings at this airport. In the interest of safety I decided not to turn about in fear that we might leave the hard surface of taxiway E-8. We requested a tug come get us and about 20 later we were tugged safely to gate #2. A contributing factor was that the captains map reading light was not working properly at that time. We did not leave the hard surface or bend any metal. We need better runway and taxiway charts for this airport (not in small print) and we need the airport authority to mark the okbk airport to ICAO standers with better taxiway markers so we can see them and not after we have passed them.

Title: B777 Captain entered closed Taxiway E8 by mistake at night after landing on Runway 33R at OKBK. Captain cites a lack of adequate signs and taxiway closure markings as contributory factors.
