Narrative:
We were on the benky 1 RNAV arrival into ord. While over dacks intersection; someone from the ground approximately 5 to 10 miles in front of us shined a laser beam or bright light directly into the cockpit for approximately 3 seconds. We were at 10;000 ft at 250 KIAS. The captain was heads down recording the ATIS and calculating the landing data while I was flying; so he did not see it. It was a bright green light and it was obviously intentionally aimed directly at us. It was slightly blinding. I immediately told the captain about it; but by the time he looked up; the light/laser had been turned off. We reported it to ATC and landed on runway 10 without incident.
