Narrative:
The idg number 2 was deferred on [our] aircraft. During flight the cas system gave continuous amber alerts for 'idg 2.' we decided that we should call maintenance about the issue. When maintenance understood that the cas was continually indicating 'idg 2;' they advised us to disconnect the idg 2 from the engine via the disconnect switch. The cas stopped giving the 'idg 2' amber alert; and the flight continued without incident. Apparently; since the idg was deferred; it should have also been disconnected from the engine. Any time something is deferred on an aircraft; I'll be more diligent to make sure that all necessary action has been completed.

Title: A CRJ-700 First Officer reported CAS alerts for IDG 2 even though the IDG 2 was deferred before departure. Maintenance advised a disconnect; and later reporter learned it should have been disconnected as part of the deferral process.
