Narrative:
Ord had just completed a configuration change and was now arriving runways 14R; 10 and 22R. As the first arrivals reached the airport; a thunderstorm cell crossed the airport and reduced visibility severely. Every aircraft on the 22R approach lost sight of the runway and executed a missed approach; in addition aircraft went around on runway 14R and runway 10. Air carrier X went around on runway 22R; within seconds aircraft Y went around on runway 10. I saw air carrier X near midfield and observed aircraft Y near the west boundary and took action to separate the aircraft. The weather conditions were constantly changing throughout this time period which is the norm any time thunderstorms move through the area. The impact of this particular cell on the visibility at the airport was impossible to predict.
