Narrative:

On IFR flight plan [we] executed missed approach at our destination and requested ILS to our alternate. Given heading to intercept localizer and execute approach. Intercepted localizer and began descending toward decision height without confirming that aircraft was below glideslope. Tower advised of low altitude alert and deviation was corrected. Landed without incident. Contributing to the problem was a lack of sleep; low ceilings; and missed approach at airport of intended landing.
