Narrative:
Charter was dispatched over the referenced route. This route is not legal for dispatch of medium large transport without overwater equipment, reference far 91.189. I accepted this dispatch presuming air carrier dispatch had checked that it was legal to dispatch and operate medium large transport's over this route. While flying this route, I got suspicious and checked distances. At one point, I was approximately 85 NM from land. I have reported this discrepancy to dispatch. They have taken corrective action to prevent a repeat.

Title: MLG FLOWN WITHOUT FLOTATION EQUIPMENT IN VIOLATION OF FAR 91 PT 189.
Narrative: CHARTER WAS DISPATCHED OVER THE REFERENCED ROUTE. THIS ROUTE IS NOT LEGAL FOR DISPATCH OF MLG WITHOUT OVERWATER EQUIPMENT, REF FAR 91.189. I ACCEPTED THIS DISPATCH PRESUMING ACR DISPATCH HAD CHECKED THAT IT WAS LEGAL TO DISPATCH AND OPERATE MLG'S OVER THIS ROUTE. WHILE FLYING THIS ROUTE, I GOT SUSPICIOUS AND CHECKED DISTANCES. AT ONE POINT, I WAS APPROX 85 NM FROM LAND. I HAVE REPORTED THIS DISCREPANCY TO DISPATCH. THEY HAVE TAKEN CORRECTIVE ACTION TO PREVENT A REPEAT.
