Narrative:
While taxiing into oakland terminal one; we noticed a fuel cart used for in ground fueling parked on the right side near the taxi stop area. The cart appeared to be too close to the wing to taxi all the way into the parking spot. We signaled to the marshaller. He appeared to acknowledge the cart and continued to marshal us in to the spot. The fuel cart was parked inside a square designated for the cart outlined in red. After stopping the airplane and deplaning the passengers; I observed the cart. The right wing was stopped approximately one foot short of the fuel cart. The cart was under approximately eight feet of the wing. I notified the ground ramp supervisor and pointed out the situation. He stated the subject area was designated as a parking space for our aircraft by the port. He stated the cart never moves and was parked within the boundaries of the red rectangular square. He said nobody had complained about the fuel cart before. The marshaller was aware of the cart and continued to marshal us in. The gate to the left of us had an air carrier X jet parked with the wing over the fuel cart.
