Narrative:
Discrepancies were noted during routine visual inspection prior to engine installation after completion of idg (integrated drive generator) harness brackets task. Aircraft records indicated the task was completed by april 2010. Engine was received [at our] maintenance base in a pre mod status. Other documents noted discrepancies post engine installation.continue to emphasize need for better quality assurance since items that are discovered are repetitive and need to be corrected. Additionally the idg bracket eo (engineering order) discrepancy should be evaluated. The task [for modified bracket installation] was completed in april. Why was the engine received from vendor with pre-task parts installed? Speculation is that segregation of individual qec (quick engine change) parts is not being adhered to. This particular task is a.D. (Airworthiness directive) driven and should be of some concern.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An Engine Shop Mechanic reported one of their CF-34-3B General Electric engines returning from a Contract Engine Maintenance vendor without the modified IDG harness brackets re-installed. The modified brackets were installed on their engines per an Airworthiness Directive (A.D.) in their Engine Shop; but returned with Pre-Mod brackets.
