Narrative:
New york approach was giving us vectors for the visual runway 19 into teb. We were on a heading of 240 at 2;000 ft when we were told to turn to a heading of 270. While still in the turn ATC told us to climb to 3;000 because of traffic. While still in the turn and climbing TCAS was calling out traffic. Pilot noticed other plane was climbing and banking to the left (we were banking to the right) and decided to go wings level and nose down to avoid collision with other airplane. ATC was unware where the plane came from. We were then cleared for the visual for 19 and continued the flight without any other distruptions.
