Narrative:
I had contacted ogden tower 10 miles out, and was cleared to land on runway 27. The sectional depiction of hill air force base was a single n-s runway. Ogden was shown as a field with 3 intersecting runways. We headed for an airport with 3 intersecting runways and lined up on a runway with a heading of 270 degree. As we approached, we saw an X on the runway and many military aircraft. We advised ogden tower that we were in hill's airspace. Ogden instructed us to make a 180 degree turn and then proceed north along the hills to ogden airport, about 5 miles away. After landing, I talked/called ogden tower by phone. The controller said probably no action would be taken. I strongly recommend that the sectional be changed to show the 3 runways at hill to prevent a recurrence of the error I made. Callback conversation with reporter revealed following information. During callback conversation the reporter agreed that a change to the sectional chart presentation would be inconsistent and that the problem was his navigation error.

Title: GA SMA WRONG ARPT APCH AT OGD.
Narrative: I HAD CONTACTED OGDEN TWR 10 MILES OUT, AND WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 27. THE SECTIONAL DEPICTION OF HILL AIR FORCE BASE WAS A SINGLE N-S RWY. OGDEN WAS SHOWN AS A FIELD WITH 3 INTERSECTING RWYS. WE HEADED FOR AN ARPT WITH 3 INTERSECTING RWYS AND LINED UP ON A RWY WITH A HDG OF 270 DEG. AS WE APCHED, WE SAW AN X ON THE RWY AND MANY MIL ACFT. WE ADVISED OGDEN TWR THAT WE WERE IN HILL'S AIRSPACE. OGDEN INSTRUCTED US TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN AND THEN PROCEED N ALONG THE HILLS TO OGDEN ARPT, ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY. AFTER LNDG, I TALKED/CALLED OGDEN TWR BY PHONE. THE CTLR SAID PROBABLY NO ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT THE SECTIONAL BE CHANGED TO SHOW THE 3 RWYS AT HILL TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE OF THE ERROR I MADE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED FOLLOWING INFO. DURING CALLBACK CONVERSATION THE RPTR AGREED THAT A CHANGE TO THE SECTIONAL CHART PRESENTATION WOULD BE INCONSISTENT AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS HIS NAV ERROR.
