Narrative:
Logbook item: strong odor; B757-200 came back after power had been disconnected. Fire chief confirmed with thermal imaging that wire was disconnected; [but] was still warm. Repair took place in ZZZ.found [passenger seat] vacuum motor lumber bag (cover) burnt. Found that [vacuum motor] wire harness was routed incorrectly causing the harness to short out. Removed and replaced vacuum motor and replaced wire harness. [I] accomplished task using (component maintenance manual) cmm 25-20-77; page 7007.suggest when installing or replacing vacuum motor and harness; make sure wire harness is properly routed so that wire harness will not chafe or short out. Also use proper manual such as the cmm for correct instructions.

Title: A Maintenance Supervisor reports about a B757-200 diverting due to a strong burning odor coming from a First Class seat. The electrical wiring harness for the seat lumbar support inflation bag had been incorrectly routed inside the motor covering.
