Narrative:

A PA28 was being vectored for sequencing into an airport. Our mias (minimum instrument altitude) had recently changed. I descended the aircraft to 045; the old mia; below the new mia of 047. It would be helpful if the actual MVA/mia (minimum vectoring altitude) altitude were included on the 'special areas' button that displays the lines of the MVA/mia areas. I would not have made that mistake if that were the case.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: A ZOB Controller described a MVA separation event when an aircraft was cleared to the previous MVA which was below the new MVA limitation; noting position automation enhancements/updates would have prevented the infraction.
