Narrative:
I contacted the pilots to find out if they needed anything to drink with meals; pilot said; 'no drinks' after conferring with other pilot. Flight attendant D was at row 6 doing service when I went to get her attention to guard flight deck door the captain opened the door. I went back up to the front and gave them the meals and shut the door. I was unable to get flight attendant D to guard the door before it opening. I suggest having the pilot look out the flight deck door to make sure a flight attendant is guarding it. Update procedures for opening flight deck doors. I should have told the pilots that I needed a second to get another person to stand in front of the door; there was a communication break down that may need to be addressed.
