Narrative:
We were cleared from the gate to runway 1 at taxiway C. I turned out of parking and began taxiing to the southwest across the ramp. The ramp at saw is quite large and unlit. It is not possible to taxi near the west edge of the ramp; because there is an aircraft parked there; and an area marked off with reflectors. Referencing the airport diagram; I headed toward the southwest corner of the ramp. Ground called and said we had passed taxiway C and were in an area marked off with cones. I turned around and headed north back to taxiway C. The airport diagram does not match the airport. What is shown on the airport diagram as the end of the ramp is an area marked with small blue reflectors. The airport diagram should show the whole ramp with a marked non-movement area. The actual area could be marked or lit better.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Air Carrier Captain discovers that the airport diagram of the ramp at SAW does not accurately depict the ramp area. The ramp actually extends south all the way to Taxiway D.
