Narrative:
While installing safety pin in door 3-Left (3l) slide bottle; was required to move the discharge lever to get pin installed. A 'whoosh' sound was heard. Bottle discharged; chute deployed. Bottle was not rigged correctly. Maintenance manual does inform you that performing this procedure may cause inadvertent slide deployment. Suggest rigging the bottles correctly.

Title: A Mechanic reported a slide bottle on an A321 aircraft discharged as he was attempting to install a slide bottle safety pin at cabin Door 3-Left (3L). A whoosh sound was heard and the slide deployed in the hangar.
