Narrative:

An ATR-72-200 aircraft was in december 2010; to work MEL 28-14 (left fuel low level light on); in which the left feeder tank needed cleaning using an engineering order (eo). The cleaning of the feeder tank revealed fuel contamination; an analysis was taken and send to the lab. The results from the analysis were not given to the mechanic who issued the deferral item. The level of contamination should be in this deferral item from the first analysis to determine the direction of the work scope. The engineering notes used as a reference to defer [the left fuel low level light 'on'] refer to service information letter (sil) ATR 42-28-5001 for ATR 42 and 72 aircraft. This sil is not in our ATR-72 sil book. So can we use this sil procedure?
