Narrative:

10 mi out from airport called on unicom frequency. Park ranger answered and advised winds out of north at 8-10 KTS and advised left traffic runway 33. Shot normal approach, braked and could not stop aircraft. Overran runway by approximately 15' and nose sank in soft sand/gravel. The propeller spun in and stopped. I called in to close flight plan with FSS. Ranger showed up thereafter. Winds were actually approximately 20 KTS from south. His WX station was not working properly, which he later confirmed and disconnected. There were 5 passenger on board. No injuries. The plane, assisted by 6 adults and a range rover was moved back to paved surface. The propeller nicks were filed out. The aircraft was further inspected (I am an I.a.), test taxied and flown, and was then flown back to its base in camarillo.
