Narrative:
Approach control had cleared us for the visual approach to runway 22R at ind. We switched to the control tower at the OM and were cleared to land runway 22R. I recall the tower communicating with a helicopter during the approach. On short final (approximately 200-300' AGL) I saw a blue and white helicopter (small aircraft Y) at our 11 O'clock position approximately 50-100' above our altitude and approximately 500' horizontal proceeding across our approach path. I immediately pointed this out to the captain, who immediately increased our rate of descent to avoid the conflict. The helicopter passed overhead. After we verified that we could continue and land safely, I asked the control tower if they knew about the helicopter's position. They ased the helicopter if he had seen our aircraft. He responded, 'they initially did not, but do now.' the remainder of the flight was uneventful.

Title: WHILE ON VISUAL APCH, ON SHORT FINAL, ACR MLG FORCED TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO PREVENT COLLISION WITH UNREPORTED HELICOPTER.
Narrative: APCH CTL HAD CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 22R AT IND. WE SWITCHED TO THE CTL TWR AT THE OM AND WERE CLRED TO LAND RWY 22R. I RECALL THE TWR COMMUNICATING WITH A HELI DURING THE APCH. ON SHORT FINAL (APPROX 200-300' AGL) I SAW A BLUE AND WHITE HELI (SMA Y) AT OUR 11 O'CLOCK POS APPROX 50-100' ABOVE OUR ALT AND APPROX 500' HORIZ PROCEEDING ACROSS OUR APCH PATH. I IMMEDIATELY POINTED THIS OUT TO THE CAPT, WHO IMMEDIATELY INCREASED OUR RATE OF DSCNT TO AVOID THE CONFLICT. THE HELI PASSED OVERHEAD. AFTER WE VERIFIED THAT WE COULD CONTINUE AND LAND SAFELY, I ASKED THE CTL TWR IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THE HELI'S POS. THEY ASED THE HELI IF HE HAD SEEN OUR ACFT. HE RESPONDED, 'THEY INITIALLY DID NOT, BUT DO NOW.' THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
