Narrative:
Our briefing message advised the aft interphone and the door 1L slide arming indicators were not working properly. As a result we needed to have the slide's armed status verified by a mechanic.this plane has been flying in this condition for at least a couple of weeks. I am disturbed by the fact we are flying an aircraft knowing the slide indicators are not working properly. I am also disturbed that the mechanic comes on board to verify during boarding instead of just before departure as it states in the flight attendant operations manual. I explained to the mechanic that he needed to come back at the appropriate time and make sure the door disarmed during boarding. He was upset.then; even more disturbing; a supervisor came aboard and stated we would take a 'delay' in order to have the mechanic come back on board. That suggestion comes across as intimidating and could encourage a flight attendant in the wrong manner.
