Job instruction card (jic) XXXX; step 2; calls out to install o-ring [seal] on integrated drive generator (idg) shaft; reference company illustrated parts catalog (ipc) parts breakdown illustration 71-00-01. The part number (P/north) according to above ipc reference is an AS3209-138 [O-ring seal]. As per engineering order XXX dated 2004; this o-ring AS3209 can no longer be used on pratt-whitney pw-4000 engines and have to be replaced with part number MS83485-1-138.

Title: A Pratt-Whitney PW-4000 Mechanic calls attention to their Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) parts breakdown referencing the use of AS type O-ring seals on the Integrated Drive Generator drive shafts. The AS type O-ring seals had been discontinued due to deterioration of the seals from the same type of engine oil still in use.
