Narrative:

Center had cleared us to cross 5 mi out at 6000'. At about 8 mi center told us about an small transport at 9000' nebnd. We were looking for him when an small aircraft appeared at 2 O'clock and at our altitude. There was no time to react. We just happened to both be at an angle that caused us to miss. We informed center we had the twin and an small aircraft close and at our altitude, center's response was 'thank you'. A major contributor is ft worth's center not allowing turbo propellers on the jet arrivals. So we are always down low worth GA aircraft.
