Narrative:
After a safe flight I deplaned the aircraft. I was gathering my belongings in the jet bridge just outside our aircraft at the gate. I heard the jet bridge alarm sound and noticed the jet bridge starting to lower. I looked around to see if an agent was available to respond to the alarm and shut it off. I didn't see anyone responding; but briefly thought the auto leveler would stop the movement. I quickly realized it was not going to stop so I went over to the control panel. I found the large red emergency switch; attempted to activate it; but it would not move. I was standing there trying to find another way to stop it when I heard a loud bang. The aircraft door at 1L had been torn from the plane and was lying in the jet bridge threshold. The remaining onboard crew members kept the few remaining passengers clear of the door until air stairs were brought to the plane. Everyone finished deplaning from door 2L. Fortunately no one was injured. Local company operations said the same jet bridge had done the same thing the day before; however the aircraft door wasn't open at the time. The airport attempted to fix it; but obviously did not.
