Narrative:
I was departing runway 8 at X26 when another low wing aircraft crossed the runway from right to left about 3/4 of the way down. I departed immediately behind another cherokee and I announced my departure on frequency. I monitored the frequency carefully and that pilot never announced his intentions. I was already at rotation speed and I felt it safer to take off rather than abort. The aircraft actually ended up turning onto the runway opposite direction to my departure. The aircraft stayed to the north side of the runway and I stayed to the south side of the runway and I was over 50 ft high when we passed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A PA28 airborne on a takeoff roll and an experimental aircraft pilot reported a NMAC at X26 after the experimental aircraft pilot unknowingly entered the active and taxied the opposite direction thinking he was on a taxiway.
