A lead mechanic reports one of his engine shop mechanic's noticed an oil tank transmitter scheduled for installation on a pw-4000 engine had a company serviceable tag signed by stores. Narrative:

I received an oil tank transmitter for installation on [a pw-4000] engine! The transmitter had a company serviceable tag signed by stores [personnel]! No inspector from our airline had looked at the part! There was no FAA-8130 tag for the transmitter! Also; the transmitter had a repairable parts tag from pratt-whitney! Apparently; it was bought from pratt-whitney; but never made serviceable! I was instructed by union representative to fill out report and have inspection reject part!

No Inspector from our airline had looked at the part! There was no FAA-8130 Tag for the transmitter! Also; the transmitter had a Repairable Parts Tag from Pratt-Whitney! Apparently; it was bought from Pratt-Whitney; but never made Serviceable! I was instructed by Union Representative to fill out report and have Inspection reject part!
