Narrative:
Air carrier X was scheduled to depart but had a problem with the #1 VHF communication squeal. I helped the mechanic troubleshoot and we removed and replaced the #1 VHF communication receiver/transmitter. The logbook was signed off and we went back to office. Then a second call from air carrier X with the same problem came in. I asked the mechanic to swap the VHF communication receiver/transmitter for troubleshooting. This was no help and we continued checking system for 35-40 mins. Cleaning the #1 VHF communication panel copilot cleared the squeal. The aircraft was ready to push off gate and I forgot to swap the receiver/transmitter back to original position and/or forgot to document that the receiver/transmitter had been swapped.
