Narrative:

On initial climb encountered right wing body overheat. Not in icing; APU not running (inoperative). Ran QRH; light immediately went out; continued climb; incorrectly restored right side. Misread checklist and assumed something was missing from checklist when seemed like we should have been able to restore. Even double checked the QRH. Light did not come back. [We] would have been ok to destination without right pack (good weather). Wrote up event; maintenance performed inspections at next stop and could not find any issues or any history going back 30 days. [We] departed for next leg operations normal. Reviewed checklist at home and realized should not have restored system. [I] did not carefully read QRH. [The light] could have come back on potentially.

Title: B737 Captain experienced a wing body overheat on initial climb from a tropical airport and complied with QRH procedures. Later in the flight the Captain elected to turn the bleed valve back on believing that something is missing from the QRH procedure; the warning did not reoccur and maintenance can find no defects upon arrival.
