At approximately 1;500 AGL approximately konte on final to runway 25L encountered a green laser contact in my left eye. [I took] approximately two seconds to realize what it was. Started with small spot in eye that by 500 ft AGL had progressed to almost complete degradation of the vision in the eye; and had to turn the aircraft over to first officer for landing. Vision continued bad for about one hour before returning to normal.
