Narrative:
Cleared to climb to 15000' on assigned heading of 240 degree by ZDC frequency 121.05. ZDC advised of known IFR traffic 3 to 5 mi eastbound 16000' descending to 15000'. After a short pause, controller said traffic 16000' for 16000'. At this time, we had visual contact. I leveled off at 14700' and descended to 14500' while making rapid turn to 270 degree. At this time another controller came on the air saying traffic alert or something similar. Medium large transport Y passed 1000' to 2000' off our left, opposite direction at what appeared to be 15000'.

Title: ACR LGT FLT CREW TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID ACR MLG THAT WAS DESCENDED TO THEIR ALT OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
Narrative: CLRED TO CLB TO 15000' ON ASSIGNED HDG OF 240 DEG BY ZDC FREQ 121.05. ZDC ADVISED OF KNOWN IFR TFC 3 TO 5 MI EBND 16000' DSNDING TO 15000'. AFTER A SHORT PAUSE, CTLR SAID TFC 16000' FOR 16000'. AT THIS TIME, WE HAD VISUAL CONTACT. I LEVELED OFF AT 14700' AND DSNDED TO 14500' WHILE MAKING RAPID TURN TO 270 DEG. AT THIS TIME ANOTHER CTLR CAME ON THE AIR SAYING TFC ALERT OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. MLG Y PASSED 1000' TO 2000' OFF OUR LEFT, OPPOSITE DIRECTION AT WHAT APPEARED TO BE 15000'.
