Narrative:
Immediately after take-off; the aircraft started making a loud sound (wind noise and buzzing). We selected the EICAS electrics page and observed that the air driven generator (air driven generator) was deployed and powering the essential bus. We completed the checklist for air driven generator inadvertent deployment. Pressing the air driven generator power transfer override button did not re-establish normal power. We accepted delay vectors from ATC to burn enough fuel to get down to our max landing weight. We completed a normal landing. The power supply to the essential bus switched from the air driven generator to bus 1 during the landing roll out between 80 and 60 KTS. We taxied in normally. The air driven generator manual release handle was not touched during this event. All generators were operating normally.

Title: A CRJ200's Air Driven Generator deployed automatically on takeoff with all electrical systems normal and no action by the crew. The aircraft was returned to the departure airport.
