Narrative:
During this flight; we received word from the head flight attendant that she and several passengers had detected a burning electrical smell in the mid-cabin area. My first officer and I referred to the QRH aircraft smoke/fumes removal checklist and thence to the cabin/lavatory fire checklist. We decided that the checklist cabin/lavatory fire checklist was more appropriate since we suspected the problem to be a gasper fan or pack.
