Narrative:
While at cruise flight; noticed the L1 window was electrical arcing and melting at the same time. Ran the QRH checklist and turned off electrical power to the window. Within 20 seconds the window shattered. I declared an emergency; diverted to the nearest suitable airport; and landed without incident.
