Narrative:
During a production demonstration flight while extending the landing gear on approach to our destination the left main gear did not show down and green as expected. Flight crew returned to our departure airport at 16;000 ft and 230 KIAS with the gear and gear doors extended. Fuel dump was not performed or required as we held for approximately 2 hours to burn down fuel and communicate with production and engineering flight test personnel as well as company radio and fire rescue personnel. All normal and non-normal checklists were completed and reviewed prior to commencing the approach to the runway and the captain declared a in-flight emergency with tower and landed without incident. The aircraft was stopped on the runway with 3;000 ft remaining using only thrust reversers. Engines were shutdown after communications were established with the ground crew and tug driver. The runway was closed to landing traffic for approximately 1.5 hours due to engineering analysis and tow operations.
