Narrative:
After takeoff when selecting gear up; the nose gear went into transit but did not go up and lock. I noticed that the main gear were up and locked but the nose gear was still in transition and there was the audible wind blast noise associated with the nose gear down. In about 20-30 seconds we received a gear disagree master warning. I had first officer continue pilot flying duty and take over radio duties while I ran the pertinent QRH procedure. After running the QRH procedure; we successfully lowered the gear and received down and three green indications. We then conducted an overweight landing without further incident.
