Narrative:
On takeoff we experienced a hydraulic system #1 failure when the gear handle was selected up. We declared an emergency; ran the appropriate checklists; notified the flight attendant and operations of the nature of our emergency and landed without incident back at our departure airport with crash fire rescue equipment standing by.

Title: An E-145 flight crew opted to return to their departure airport when the #1 hydraulic system failed on initial climb.
Narrative: On takeoff we experienced a hydraulic system #1 failure when the gear handle was selected up. We declared an emergency; ran the appropriate checklists; notified the Flight Attendant and Operations of the nature of our emergency and landed without incident back at our departure airport with CFR standing by.
