Narrative:
Flight released via polar route devid. Center called my sector looking for a position report for the flight over devid because they were unable to contact them on HF. Flight was due to cross twelve minutes earlier. I tried to ACARS the flight and tried the satphone with no success. A commercial radio service reported that another carrier was also having HF problems and that there was some apparent solar activity. I tried ACARS and satphone about every 5-10 minutes with no success. I was unable to contact the flight until over an hour later and then normal ACARS communications resumed. Flight reported they were out of HF and satcom for 2 hours over the pole. After regaining contact with the flight I informed center watch desk and our duty officer that we were back in contact with the flight.
