Narrative:
I landed with lost communications with no problems. As I flew back toward the airport I circled overhead until I 'received' a light gun signal. I then descended into the traffic pattern and made a normal landing. Afterward; I waited for light signals for taxi. After parking I called the tower to make sure that there was nothing further they needed from me. I was informed that they did not send a light signal for a landing. However; I thought that I had seen a signal and with the electrical fire that had just happened; I wanted to land as soon as possible and was pretty certain that I had seen a green signal from the tower.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BE-76 Instructor reported an electrical fire in flight which required a lost communications approach and landing. He did not receive a landing clearance light from ATC although he thought he had.
