Narrative:
After takeoff we experienced a generator drive disconnect. After performing the checklist; I elected to return to the departure airport because I was not sure of the nature of the damage and we would not have enough fuel for the trip to our domestic destination. We declared an emergency and informed departure that we will be returning to the departure airport and making an overweight landing and request airport rescue and fire fighters to stand by and will be dumping fuel. We dumped fuel to facilitate a 30 flap landing in order to minimize ref speed. We accomplished the overweight landing checklist; emergency landing checklist and briefed the flight attendants (test brief). We returned to ZZZZ; stopped on the runway and had brakes and tires inspected by airport rescue and fire fighters. We then returned to the parking area.
