Narrative:
Dvt airport authority called the flm to tell him that runway 7R/25L was closed and dvt forgot to put it on their closing ATIS. He said numerous aircraft were trying to land on this closed runway. The flm called a dvt flm; and the dvt atm; but no answer. The tower was closed. The airport authority said that the navaids were turned off as well as the lights and that there were 'X's at the ends of the runway. The problem appears to be that nobody in air traffic got the NOTAM; P50 or dvt. [I] recommend bringing FSS back to the FAA so this doesn't happen.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: P50 Controller described an event involving several aircraft landing attempts at DVT on a closed runway; indicating that ATC facilities were apparently not notified; the reporter suggesting canceling the FSS Contract efforts.
