Narrative:

Taxiing out we were given instructions to hold short of 22L on papa. Company in front was given instructions to cross 22L on papa and taxi to 22L via papa; november; romeo; and cleared to cross the approach end of 22R. We were given instructions to cross 22L on papa and taxi via papa; november; romeo and pull up behind a company aircraft. I complied. We never taxied onto 22R. Add a hot spot on the 10-9. In 13 + years; I've never crossed over to the north side of 22L to depart. Hold short signs are very confusing. I'm not sure proper taxi instructions were issued.
