Narrative:
We were cleared to land but due to ramp congestion they asked the dash 8 that had just landed to expedite down to F to clear the runway. However we were on short approach and the airplane was not going to be clear of the runway in time. ATC called our go around and then we were sequenced for a downwind. After we were cleared to land on a 4-5 mile final our flaps failed when selected to 30 degrees in the 20 degree position. We canceled our approach clearance and asked for radar vectors to run a QRH. After the checklist was complete we were re-vectored on to final. I called for fire trucks as a precaution and we landed uneventfully. Dispatch and maintenance was notified after we landed.
