Narrative:
While taxiing to the gate after landing the left generator failed. After accomplishing the qrc we continued to taxi. A few minutes later the left fire handle illuminated with an aural warning. We accomplished the qrc again and requested arff supoort. After both fire bottles were discharged the light went out and arff confirmed the smoke had dissipated. After consulting with the flight attendants; ATC tower; and arff; we started the right engine and taxied to the gate without further incident.
