Narrative:
After pushback; ground control cleared us to taxi; but gave us a taxi clearance that included a turn on A4; which we are not allowed to use. We received another clearance prior to aircraft movement after the pushback which we could accept. I was in the left observer's seat. The captain and I both cleared the way to the left several times and then I directed my attention to the airbus that had pushed from an adjacent. Its left wing was slightly over the line. The captain had started the taxi as cleared when he hit the brakes hard just as I was bringing my attention again to look out the left side window and a commuter jet taxied under our left wing at a high rate of speed. The captain did a great job in preventing an accident. The tower never commented about the incident. It sounded like the controller was new or possibly in training. She seemed confused.

Title: A heavy jet Captain taxiing at ORD aggressively applied the brakes in order to avoid colliding with a commuter jet which taxied under its wing at a high rate of speed.
