Narrative:
On this date, the ground controller at det gave us clearance to taxi to runway 33 via taxiway G and I. I asked the copilot if there was any mention in the clearance to hold short of any runway. There was not. We proceeded down taxiway G and I crossed runway 33 at 'I' to proceed to the departure end of the runway. From the depiction on the nos chart and the appearance of the runway, the departure end of 33 was further south of the intersection of I and 33. Therefore we proceeded to cross and circle around on the next taxiway to reach the departure end. The confusion resulted from the ground controller omitting the statement to hold short of 33 at I and also the appearance of the charts and layout of the airport making it appear that the departure end of 33 was actually further south of the 'I' intersection.

Title: CHARTER SMT UNAUTH RWY CROSSING.
Narrative: ON THIS DATE, THE GND CTLR AT DET GAVE US CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 33 VIA TXWY G AND I. I ASKED THE COPLT IF THERE WAS ANY MENTION IN THE CLRNC TO HOLD SHORT OF ANY RWY. THERE WAS NOT. WE PROCEEDED DOWN TXWY G AND I CROSSED RWY 33 AT 'I' TO PROCEED TO THE DEP END OF THE RWY. FROM THE DEPICTION ON THE NOS CHART AND THE APPEARANCE OF THE RWY, THE DEP END OF 33 WAS FURTHER S OF THE INTXN OF I AND 33. THEREFORE WE PROCEEDED TO CROSS AND CIRCLE AROUND ON THE NEXT TXWY TO REACH THE DEP END. THE CONFUSION RESULTED FROM THE GND CTLR OMITTING THE STATEMENT TO HOLD SHORT OF 33 AT I AND ALSO THE APPEARANCE OF THE CHARTS AND LAYOUT OF THE ARPT MAKING IT APPEAR THAT THE DEP END OF 33 WAS ACTUALLY FURTHER S OF THE 'I' INTXN.
