Narrative:
In cruise flight at FL360; captain and first officer both noticed smell of smoke/fumes. After confirming the smell with flight attendant and 2 deadheading crewmembers throughout the cabin; we [informed] flight attendant that we were diverting and to prepare for an emergency landing. Captain and first officer performed 'cabin or cockpit fire/smoke/fumes' memory items; epc; and aom volume 1 procedures. We declared an emergency with ATC and diverted.

Title: An EMB140 flight crew and Flight Attendant smelled smoke/fumes at cruise so an emergency was declared; the QRH checklist completed; and the flight diverted to a nearby airport.
