Narrative:

I am using this format to address a continuing unsafe situation that continues to occur in the ord vicinity. The situation is the ord VOR 113.9 being off the air for protracted (many weeks) periods. This situation is causing increased radio traffic as controllers scramble to vector aircraft due the lack of intxns and fixes which are predicated off ord VOR. This is also increasing the amount of heads down time in the cockpit to search for unfamiliar radials and fixes to make up for unusable published fixes. Obviously the corrective actin is to get the ord VOR operating again and expedite repairs on VOR's of primary importance in the arwy system.

Title: FLT COMPLAINT ABOUT EXTENDED OUTAGE OF ORD VOR.

Narrative: I AM USING THIS FORMAT TO ADDRESS A CONTINUING UNSAFE SITUATION THAT CONTINUES TO OCCUR IN THE ORD VICINITY. THE SITUATION IS THE ORD VOR 113.9 BEING OFF THE AIR FOR PROTRACTED (MANY WKS) PERIODS. THIS SITUATION IS CAUSING INCREASED RADIO TFC AS CTLRS SCRAMBLE TO VECTOR ACFT DUE THE LACK OF INTXNS AND FIXES WHICH ARE PREDICATED OFF ORD VOR. THIS IS ALSO INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF HEADS DOWN TIME IN THE COCKPIT TO SEARCH FOR UNFAMILIAR RADIALS AND FIXES TO MAKE UP FOR UNUSABLE PUBLISHED FIXES. OBVIOUSLY THE CORRECTIVE ACTIN IS TO GET THE ORD VOR OPERATING AGAIN AND EXPEDITE REPAIRS ON VOR'S OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE IN THE ARWY SYS.
