Narrative:
A320 aircraft had deferred item assigned. Item stated plastic trim panel on first officer's forward instrument panel was incorrect. Panel had been previously replaced due to damage on edge. New panel was removed. A replacement panel had been researched and ordered through operations. When I received the panel; I verified through illustrated parts catalog (ipc) that this new panel was correct for this aircraft. There were no references in ipc chapter 25-13-01 as to this panel being a pre or post service bulletin panel. Panel was installed. Flight crew on subsequent flight reported that this was an incorrect configuration for this particular aircraft. Panel was modified; and original deferral reopened. Awaiting engineering assist to locate correct panel for this aircraft.
