Narrative:
On final approach I called for gear down; flaps 30; landing check to the line. The first officer selected gear down and nothing happened; then a few seconds later we received a gear disagree message. I directed the first officer to select gear up and down again and nothing happened. I called for a go-around and flew a tower directed missed approach. The first officer tried the gear again and it came down as per QRH. We flew a downwind pattern with the gear extended and landed without further incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
