Narrative:
I'm uncertain if this is the appropriate avenue to report my concerns but do believe it needs to be documented. At air taxi X; we have recently begun using a new software system to track materials; maintenance; and multiple other areas of business unrelated to me. My biggest concern is the maintenance tracking. I've personally spent multiple hours correcting error after error related to aircraft maintenance tracking status reports. There have been issues with the correction process and work flow between departments that are overwhelmed. There have also been several instances where the software has made changes with a 'mind of its own' that are very difficult to catch. It has become apparent that this situation is not isolated to one aircraft. I've personally been involved in audits of three aircraft and found a significant amount of incorrectly tracked and omitted scheduled maintenance items. I've also spoken with several other peers and they are having issues as well. The bottom line is that the maintenance tracking problems along with the materials management problems are creating a significant distraction to ground level maintenance crews. At a recent maintenance conference call; 'distractions' were identified as one of the leading contributors to accidents and incidents. The new duties; lack of direction; and magnitude of errors associated with the new software are creating undue stress and distraction on maintenance personnel. I'm not sure of a quick answer but I am willing to work as a team to find a safe fix to alleviate non-maintenance related duties from maintenance personnel.
