Narrative:
ACARS printer inoperative. During before starting engines checklist, many distractions (gate agent/catering). Received ATIS and load close-out over the radio, but failed to call for the clearance. On takeoff, miami departure assigned us a transponder code. No problems encountered during the flight. We obviously allowed a rushed departure and distractions from completing the checklist appropriately. Supplemental information from acn 411827: upon contacting departure control we received our clearance and the flight was uneventful.
